Who Am I and What Do I Teach?
Who I Am
My name is Michael Metelits, and I am currently a Senior Instructor with the Tai Chi and Qigong Union for Great Britain, as well as a Professional Member of the National Qigong Association in the US. My background includes training in Taijiquan, Aikido, Somatic Leadership, Organisational Constellations, and various private energy practices and meditative disciplines.
My Lineage
The primary style of qigong I teach is known as Hun Yuan Qigong, or "Primordial Qigong." This practice was taught to my primary teacher, Kevin Yuan, by Cao Zhilin, who learned it from Feng Zhiqiang, the pioneer who first taught it openly. The lineage traces back to Hu Yaozhen, the original teacher of this style. I dedicated several years to studying Taiji and Hun Yuan Qigong with Kevin in Johannesburg, South Africa.
What I Teach
Throughout my training, I learned—and now share—essential body alignments, a series of warm-up movements, zhan zhuang ("standing post") postures, and visualizations. My teachings encompass whole body breathing, reverse breathing, stepping and weight-shifting exercises, the movements of Hun Yuan Qigong, Five Elements (Phases) movements, bone and meridian breathing exercises, a variety of visualization techniques, and both internal alchemy ("nei gong") practices and external projection ("wai qi") exercises.
Hun Yuan Qigong, as I teach it, comprises five principal standing postures and twelve slow, meditative movements. It is a comprehensive and powerful qigong practice that—while simple to learn through several lessons—offers profound depth and transformative effects when practiced regularly over time.
