Who I Am
My name Is Michael Metelits and currently I am a Senior Instructor with the Tai Chi and Qigong Union for Great Britain, and a Professional Member of the National Qigong Association in the US. Previously, I’ve trained in Taijiquan, Aikido, Somatic Leadership, Organisational Constellations, and a variety of private meditative and energetic disciplines.
My Lineage
The primary style of qigong I teach is called Hun Yuan Qigong, or “Primoridial Qigong.” It was taught to my primary teacher, Kevin Yuan, by Cao Zhilin, who learned it from Feng Zhiqiang, the first person to teach it openly. The style is attributed to his teacher Hu Yaozhen. I intensively studied Taiji and Hun Yuan Qigong with Kevin in Johannesburg, South Africa over several years.
What I Teach
During my training I learned—and now teach—basic body alignments, several series of warm up movements, zhan zhuang [“standing post”] postures and visualisations, whole body breathing, reverse breathing, stepping and weight shifting exercises, the Hun Yuan Qigong movements, Five Elements [Phases] movements, bone and meridian breathing exercises, a range of visualisation exercises, and a variety of internal [“nei gong”] alchemical practices as well as external [“wai qi”] projection exercises.
Hun Yuan Qigong as I teach it has 5 principal standing postures, and 12 slow, meditative movements. It’s a complete, powerful qigong practice which—while simple to learn over several lessons—has a depth and transformative effect when practiced regularly over time.
These energy-based and somatic practices have also been blended with facilitation methods like Shell’s long term scenario planning method, “values, purpose, mission” facilitation, and customer insight facilitation in workshops for corporate clients. My consulting, facilitation and coaching draw on my work with The Idea Factory Europe as well as my somatic training.
